AIAA has working relationship with many
cooperating agencies around country. They
share AIAA’s standards of good practice and
belief that placement of children must be
best interest of child along with supporting
families or individuals who want to adopt.
If you have not yet chosen home study/post
placement/post adoption local service
provider, you can contact AIAA to receive
referral to agency in your state.
If there is not cooperating agency in your
state or you chose to work with another
agency, here are things to consider when
choosing direct service agency:
The agency must:
-
Have current license and are in good
standing to provide these services in
your state. You can check with state
licensing bureau;
-
Be willing to sign AIAA’s Cooperating
Agency Agreement which will be sent to
local service agency when home study and
supervision services are requested by
AIAA;
-
Verify in home
study minimum of 10 hours of adoptive
parent training in addition to hours for
home study.
Another important consideration should be
that agency has experience in conducting and
writing home study and post placement/post
adoption reports for INTERNATI0NAL adoption.
These documents must cover such issues as
transracial/cross cultural adoption, care of
children overseas, effects of
institutionalization, where appropriate, and
requirements for US CIS regulations for
Hague and non-Hague countries. Home study
outline will be included with AIAA’s
Cooperating Agreement.
