 NANCY FOX, AIAA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AND DR. SOOK WILKINSON, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, HAVE CO-EDITED A NEW BOOK ENTITLED: - After the MORNING CALM: Reflections of Korean Adoptees. This book features 26 Korean adoptees of all ages. Their words have important implications for other adoptees, adoptive parents and professionals whose work is touched by adoption. ATTENTION FAMILIES ON THE MOVE AND ADULT ADOPTEES!!!  HELP US KEEP IN TOUCH WITH YOU.  If you are planning a move or have recently changed your address, please send us your new address and telephone number so we can update our database.  In addition to getting the newsletter to you, there are also occasions when our post adoption services department may need to reach you.  Having your current address and phone number saves us a great deal of time and effort.  So please take a minute or two to keep us current.

AIAA REVISED GUIDELINES FOR LETTERS AND PACKAGES TO KOREA.
We have been pleased to see families connecting with their children’s foster parents, birth parents, caregivers, etc. However, due to the overwhelming volume of packages and correspondence we have received, our guidelines needed to be revised. You are asked to observe the following:

AIAA 2008 Korean Homeland Tour

June 24 – July 6, 2008

 

AIAA will be partnering with two other international agencies, Spence Chapin and FCA, to host a Korean homeland tour in the summer of 2008. Space is limited to 30 individuals. If you are interested in this tour, please send your registration form and deposit directly to AIAA as soon as possible.

HOST AN EXCHANGE STUDENT:  The Raphaela International School of Culture and Arts is seeking Host Families for students coming from South Korea.  These students are coming to America to participate in cultural immersion programs and to improve their English skills.  Programs start in Summer 2008 and last 4 weeks to one full year; locations will be at various select schools in SE Michigan; A monetary allowance will be given to cover living expenses and entertainment; students age ranges from 10 to 18 years old depending on the program; students have their own medical insurance.  Contact Tiffany at 734-427-9190 or hostfamily@riscca.org for more information.

Opportunity for Adult Adoptees

Social Welfare Society, in partnership with FedEx, is offering an opportunity for adult adoptees that are 20 – 35 years of age to visit Korea from August 17th to August 24th, 2008. Fifteen adoptees will be chosen to enjoy this opportunity to tour parts of Korea while learning about Korean culture. For those adoptees chosen to participate, all expenses will be paid with the exception of airfare (there is a $500 stipend that will be given to off set this cost). Preference will be given to those applicants that have never visited Korea.
